It’s as sure a sign of spring as any, the Trumpeter Swans have returned to their favorite resting area in M’Clintock Bay on Marsh Lake, in the Yukon Southern Lakes Area. Approximately 750 swans were counted last week in the bay by the Swan Haven biologists. Each year about 10% of North America’s Trumpeter Swans stop here during spring migration.
The annual issue of the Collector’s Edition Best Wildlife of Canadian Geographic is out. I am pleased to have a double page print (birds section) representing a bald eagle in the rain, and further, a single page of a Dall Sheep in Kluane National Park (mammals section).
